St. Charles Welcomes Its New Leadership Team

Dear St. Charles Community,

After many months of collaboration with stakeholders from the St. Charles Preparatory Community and the Diocese of Columbus, I am pleased to announce the implementation of a new leadership model at St. Charles to begin the 2024-25 school year that adds a head of school position to lead the administrative team of the principal and vice principals. This model expands the leadership team and modifies the duties of other positions to match the needs of our growing school, while positioning the administration well for future opportunities.
I have appointed James R. Lower as the first Head of School, Richard V. Ey '94 the Principal, and William T. Gruber '06 the Vice Principal for Student Services. All three are servant leaders who bring a wealth of experience and a deep passion for Catholic education to St. Charles. They will join John O’Neil, Vice Principal for Academics, and Ned Gruber '09, Vice Principal for Learning Formation, to form a dedicated leadership team for St. Charles. Over the course of this year, this team will develop this new model.

I am grateful to Jim Lower, who has served as Principal for 12 years and an administrator and educator for 43 years, for stepping into this role to help us define it and shape it this year. In their new positions, Rick Ey and Will Gruber will continue to provide an outstanding educational experience for all of our students. Rick has been Vice Principal, teacher, and coach for over 25 years; Will has been an administrator, teacher, coach, and Director of Admissions for 14 years. All three are men of faith and are committed to building better men for the future.

I welcome these leaders into these new administrative roles. We are excited to support this new model of leadership and look forward to the positive changes that it will bring to St. Charles and the Diocese of Columbus.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Dr. Adam J. Dufault,

Ed.D. Superintendent of Catholic Schools
