Fr. Michael J. Lumpe '78 Receives 2024 Distinguished Alumnus Award

Louis Fabro
Congratulations to Father Michael J. Lumpe of the Class of 1978 who was presented the Distinguished Alumnus Award on November 26 at the all-school Mass of Thanksgiving.

The award was established in 2005 to recognize alumni who have honored St. Charles Preparatory School by their outstanding professional achievements, volunteer activities, and community-organization advocacy. These alumni have shared their affection for St. Charles Preparatory School and its community and have been shining examples of high moral and ethical standards.

Fr. Lumpe has especially exemplified himself throughout two decades of caring and dedicated service as a priest, pastor, Vicar for Priests, Vice Rector of the College of Liberal Arts at the Pontifical College Josephinum and most recently, Vicar for Senior and Infirm Priests, and Diocesan Coordinator of Hospital Ministry. We also acknowledge his prior 16-year career in public and environmental affairs and service to St. Charles and its community as a member of the Advisory Board from 2009 to 2021. Father has remained close with members of your St. Charles class and have always focused on helping the poor and needy living in the Diocese of Columbus. He has truly exemplified yourself as “Your Brother’s Keeper.”

Well done!
